International designer fashion and lifestyle brand Carolina Herrera New York are delighted to announce the first ever Carolina Herrera 212 Innovation Awards, an exciting new awards scheme set up to reward young creative talent which will be launched in the UK in 2006.

Each year, the 212 Innovation Awards will focus on a different creative area, and the theme of the inaugural 2006 Awards will be film.

If your dream is to become a film-maker then this these awards are a must, as they will launch the career of an exciting new talent in the movie industry�.

Film is important to the glamorous world of Carolina Herrera � the designer dresses many international actresses, including Renee Zellweger, Amy Adams, Katie Holmes and Courteney Cox. The designer's daughter, Carolina Herrera, who is now the brand's Fragrance Consultant and heads up the 212 line, also began her career as a film-maker�

The 212 universe is inspired by youth, by innovation, by Manhattan's lifestyle (area code � 212), by a dizzying pace and the feeling of being at the centre of the world�.For the first 212 Innovations Awards, the simple brief is to create a short work on video or DVD format based on these themes� 

A shortlist of entrants will be selected by a celebrity panel to attend an awards event in London in Autumn 2006, and one lucky winner will then attend a short training course at the world-famous National Film and Television school and shadow a major UK film director on their latest project�

The opening date for the competition is the 5th June 2006 and the closing date has been set for the 30th September 2006. All entries will be judged by an expert panel comprising of Carolina Herrera, Nik Powell, world-famous film producer and head of the National Film and Television school, Kate Vogel, Assistant Editor for documentaries at Channel 4 and some special celebrity guests jurors tbc� watch this space for more details.  The panel will be looking for the brightest talent and the most original entry to fast-track them to industry success

Five short-listed entrants will be invited to a gala awards ceremony to take place at the Electric Cinema, London in November 2006. At this very special event with celebrity guests, all the short-listed films will be shown before the winner is announced. The first prize package will ensure the launch of a new career in the film industry, and includes career advice from the National Film and Television School, a place on a short course at the National Film and Television School to suit the winner's skills � eg " Two Camera Drama Directing"   - and the subsequent opportunity to shadow a major UK film director on their current project. 

Runners up will receive Carolina Herrera New York 212 goodie bags, screening of their films and the opportunity to attend the star-studded awards event and party in London.
