Hailing from Australia, emerging artist sleepy benjamin is methodically cementing himself as one of the most exciting names to follow out of the region. The brain child of singer, songwriter and producer Ben Beamish, sleepy benjamin is the cultivation of years upon years of work, kickstarted earlier in 2022 with massive success, and gearing up to turn even more heads moving into 2023.
To the untrained eye, sleepy benjamin’s success was seemingly achieved overnight. The multi-talented artist, however, has been part of a number of creative projects over the past years, while working as a songwriter with some of the biggest names in the Australian music industry. Under his chill alias RAINEE, he creates soothing lo-fi music that makes for the perfect companion to a morning coffee or an afternoon reading session. As part of alt-pop brotherly duo The Beamish Brothers, he has toured across Japan and South Korea, and made the Eurovision Top 20 (11th place) with the environmentally-conscious single “Nature.”
sleepy benjamin is signed to Wise Music Publishing, and this project serves as the truest reflection of his artistic expression. His debut, self-produced single “Tunnel Vision” received early support from PopularTV (owned by the creators of Nylon, a widely acclaimed multimedia brand) and was additionally featured on a NYC billboard at the heart and centre of Times Square, while also being remixed by Japanese talent DJ Tiara.
Still buzzing off the success of “Tunnel Vision,” however, sleepy benjamin continued to push boundaries by way of a number of collaborations, further cementing himself as a trailblazer while showcasing his diverse set of inspirations, that range from FINNEAS, CXLOE and NoMBe to RY X and Labrinth.
Radio-ready pop gem “Absurd” followed suit quickly after, in collaboration with Devincy, while infectious single “Spiralling” featured the talents of Singapore-producer DSML. Then came “Unwell” alongside DEON and Tomatow, which marked sleepy benjamin’s most successful single to date, landing on multiple Spotify editorials and receiving massive acclaim from fans.
Now, sleepy benjamin is gearing up for his next release, due sometime in November 2022. With a consistent release schedule throughout his first year, as well as widespread accolades from the industry and fans alike, one thing is for certain: the only way is up for the forward-thinking artist.
